Some Technical Information You May Like To Know About The Wii Gaming Console

Since marketing is key to the success of any product in the market place it isn't always easy to separate the wheat from the chaff. There is no difference to this general rule when it comes to the Nintendo Wii Gaming Console. So finding out what is fact and what is fiction is a major struggle when it comes to finding accurate information about this gaming console.

So What is the difference anyway?

No doubt, the main difference between the Wii and the other online gaming consoles is the wiimote, which is the Wii's remote control. This is a piece of art.

Understandably, Nintendo is keeping the development as well as all the other information on how the wiimote works very close to their chests. It is very hard actually almost impossible to get any scientific information or even engineering specifications at all. All that the wider community has been able to figure out is that a sensor bar is an integral part of the whole gaming system. What's also known is that the Japanese Games producer has purchased a gyroscope company but their technology is not used in the wiimotes. It seems that instead they use solid state accelerometers to pick up the motion of the gamer. The accelerometers in the remote control connect with the Wii unit by blue tooth technology. However it really seems that the whole working of the technology is not entirely understood by the game developing community.

All I can do in this article is pointing out the features that make the wii remote control so different and so much better than its competitors. The competitors are still stuck in developing and producing a better, bigger mouse or a more fancy keyboard. This seems to be all they can think of. Not even a joystick, which has been a great improvement in the past stands a chance when compared to the wiimote. What this very sophisticated remote control is able to do is actually translate the gamers movement onto the character on the screen. So for instance if you a gamer move right the character moves to the right too.

Lets take an example, if you were to choose the bowling game out of the Wii sports package, you would actually be doing the physical movement of bowling. So bend your knees, and hit as many pins as possible at the other end to the lane.

More technical information on the Wii

The dimensions of the wiimote are about eight and a half by six inches and is compatible with the Nintendo game cube. The gaming console can talk via wireless with the Internet on an IEEE 802.11 or a USB 2.0 LAN adapter. The Wii is able to connect wireless to Nintendo DS and it can play Nintendo DS games. Additionally to the above mentioned wireless connection the Wii can also be connected via wireless internet through its internal wireless system. The wii can even remain connected to the internet when the net connection is shut off. The main reason this is important is that the console can keep updating games at night.

Video Game Tester - 5 Blazing Steps For Your Success!

The path to becoming a video game tester can be long and it can be massively annoying, but it can be all worth your effort.

5 blazing steps for your success as a video game tester

  • You should be trying out different video games through various beta tests. This is a great way to show companies who you are and what you can do. Volunteer for beta test games, play them, and try your best to find the bugs in the game. Then when you do, contact the server and tell them the problem or make a video about it on youtube. This is not only good publicity for you, but it's also good training.
  • Researching new and old companies is a vital part of your video game testing success. You should be looking up companies every week trying to find new companies that you think would hire you. Call them up and ask around. Don't be shy! If you're shy in this industry, you're not going to land the dream job you've always wanted. So get out there and start establishing connections.
  • Make your own blog, forums, or video and put them up so people can see that you're legit and that you know what you're talking about. In your blogs, forums, or videos, talk about the video games that you've played and talk about if there were any bugs that bothered you. Even if it's just a small bug that no one would care about, make it a big deal. If you can make a simple bug look like a big deal, companies are going to look at you and they are going to notice that you know what you're talking about and that you know what bugs can really do.
  • Dial in on your main console. Find out what console your a master at and look for companies that master in the same console. Don't go off looking for a console that you have no idea how to play or that you can't get into the flow of the console quickly. This vital step can either make or break your career as a video game tester and should be taken very seriously. Choose a console that you're comfortable, and when you've found it out, expand and find more consoles that you're also comfortable with.
  • Write down the company names and contacts that you've researched. This will give you a sort of handy dandy address book with a bunch of information on who to contact if you want to get hired, what console they major in, and how much they pay. You should then use this as a sort of guide to help you find out which job you think would be the best.

These steps are sure to get you to that dream job of becoming a video game tester. I promise!
