The online video games are popular because they run realistic scenarios that the gamers can control, but may never be able to actually participate in. This power and adventure is exhilarating. Involving other live players generally results in people playing longer than if they were alone. There is a new component involved, where the user doesn't want to leave the conversation that was taking place, or continue to develop a friendship.
Traditional games have never offered this, but the change is enjoyed by most of the gaming audience. It's clear that more young males use the online games than young females, regardless of their location.
